Colorless to pale yellow, transparent soft gel capsules, spherical with a diameter of approximately 4 mm; identification code 2001.

2. Mechanism of Action (18.)

It inhibits the secretion of triglycerides by the liver and promotes their clearance from the bloodstream, thereby lowering TG levels. EPA ethyl ester and DHA ethyl ester can also reduce hepatic TG levels and the activity of fatty acid/TG synthase.

3. Indications and Dosage (4.–6.)

Indications:Hyperlipidemia. A thorough examination must be conducted to confirm this condition before use.

Typically, for adults: 2 g of omega-3 fatty acid ethyl ester, once daily,Immediately after eatingTake orally. Depending on the degree of elevated triglycerides, the dose may be increased to 2 g once daily, twice daily. Absorption is poor on an empty stomach; take immediately after a meal.

4. Clinical Summary

TG Rate of Change

Long-term (52 weeks): 2 g in 1 dose—fasting TG change rate −13.91 TP3T; 4 g in 2 doses—−25.51 TP3T. The main side effect was diarrhea.

5. Contraindications and Precautions (2., 8., 9., 11.)

Patients currently experiencing bleeding (hemophilia, capillary fragility, peptic ulcers, urinary tract bleeding, hemoptysis, vitreous hemorrhage, etc.)—hemostasis may be difficult

First, improve your lifestyle and address coronary artery disease risk factors. Have your blood lipid levels checked regularly; discontinue treatment if it is ineffective. LDL-C levels may rise during treatment; monitor regularly. In patients at high risk of bleeding, such as those with severe trauma or undergoing surgery, this medication may increase the risk of bleeding. Monitor for bleeding in patients taking concomitant anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin) or antiplatelet agents (e.g., aspirin).

Serious side effects:Liver dysfunction, jaundice (frequency unknown); atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter (frequency unknown; an increased risk of hospitalization was observed in an overseas trial involving 4 g/day of EPA).

Other: Diarrhea (1–51 TP3T, less than 3T), nausea, abdominal pain, belching, bloating, constipation, flatulence; rash, itching, hyperglycemia, dizziness, headache, nosebleeds, elevated liver enzymes, etc. Use in pregnant women only if the benefits outweigh the risks. Use during breastfeeding requires careful consideration. No clinical trials have been conducted in children. Patients with hepatic impairment should have their AST and ALT levels monitored.
