3. Mechanism of Action (18.)

Selective Histamine H₁ It acts as a receptor antagonist (Ki = 16 nmol/L) and inhibits the production and release of chemical mediators such as leukotrienes, thromboxanes, and PAF, as well as the release of tachykinins. It also inhibits the effects of muscarinic agonist M₁ Virtually no affinity.

Adults:Allergic rhinitis, urticaria, and skin conditions accompanied by itching (eczema, dermatitis, prurigo, pruritus, psoriasis vulgaris, and erythema multiforme).

Children:Allergic rhinitis, hives, and skin conditions (eczema, dermatitis, pruritus) accompanied by itching.

5. Dosage and Administration (6.)

Adults:The usual dose is 5 mg of oropatadine hydrochloride twice daily, taken orally in the morning and at bedtime. The dose may be adjusted based on age and symptoms.

Children 7 years of age and older:The usual dose is 5 mg twice daily, taken orally in the morning and before bedtime.

6. Contraindications and Precautions (2./8./9.)

Taboo:Individuals who are allergic to any of the ingredients in this product.

Drowsiness may occur; do not drive or operate hazardous machinery while taking this medication. Do not continue taking this medication indefinitely if it is ineffective. For seasonal rhinitis, treatment should begin before the onset of the high-risk season and continue until the season ends. For patients on long-term steroid therapy, dosage reduction must be carried out gradually under close medical supervision.

Patients with a Ccr < 30 mL/min may have persistently elevated blood concentrations. Liver dysfunction may worsen. This medication should be administered to pregnant women only when the benefits outweigh the risks. The decision to breastfeed must be weighed carefully. No clinical trials evaluating efficacy or safety have been conducted in low-birth-weight infants, newborns, or infants and young children. Elderly patients should start with a low dose.
