Usage and Dosage
The usual maintenance dose for adults is 5 mg of tirzepatide administered subcutaneously once weekly. However, treatment should be initiated at 2.5 mg once weekly, and after 4 weeks of administration, the dose can be increased to 5 mg once weekly. The dose may be adjusted according to the patient's condition, but if 5 mg once weekly is insufficient, the dose can be increased by 2.5 mg every 4 weeks or longer. However, the maximum dose should not exceed 15 mg once weekly.
Precautions
Prescribe only for patients with a BMI of 23 or higher. For weight loss purposes, co-administration with birth control pills (oral contraceptives) and warfarin is not recommended. While not a contraindication, co-administration will reduce the effectiveness of birth control pills and warfarin due to delayed gastric emptying.
